Moving from the Maritimes to complete her studies, Maggie is a graduate of Laval University, RMC, and went on to complete a post-graduate program on Negotiation through Harvard. Her doctoral work is a study from a Canadian context on the impact of social media on small and medium businesses. Understanding influence and complex change are integral to her varied roles, as a professor, a consultant, and researcher. As a scholar-practitioner, Maggie focuses her research on practical outcomes, and improving real-world application.
Maggie has held a variety of senior academic administrative appointments over the past 25 years. She is currently serving her third term as a graduate Chair, was Interim Dean of Graduate Studies, the inaugural Associate Vice-Principal and Director of Academic Services at RMC. Maggie has nurtured her lifelong passion for teaching and mentoring in a variety of capacities. She is currently working under the Department of Defence Studies on the National Securities Programme at the Canadian Forces College (Toronto) and is the lead on the Strategic Leadership Course. In addition, she was a dedicated adjunct for a decade at the Smith School of Business at Queen's University, teaching core courses in Organisational Behaviour and Marketing. Maggie was invited to continue serving as a mentor for the Loran Scholar's Foundation with Queen's students, a role she has enjoyed since 2015.
In addition to being professor, Maggie continues to consult and serve several not-for-profit and professional boards. She is the Chair of the Board of Loving Spoonful, a not-for-profit that is helping Kingston and area become a healthier more connected community by providing programs and championing policies affecting food security, poverty, social inclusion, and community health. She also holds the role of Chair of the Hotel Dieu Corporation Board and sits on the Kingston Health Sciences Centre Partnership Council. Maggie was recognized in 2019-2020 by being named the recipient of the Colonel the Honourable John Matheson Academic Leadership Award, recognizing her outstanding leadership contribution.
