Brief History
Dr. LaViolette attended CMR in St-Jean before transferring to RMC in Kingston from 1981 to 1985. Dr. LaViolette graduated with his undergraduate degree from Laval University where he also completed his doctorate. Dr. LaViolette had the privilege of working for Jack Odgers, one of the first gas turbine combustion chamber designers from Lucas Aerospace who became a professor at Laval in the 1970's. While completing his doctorate work on different combustion chamber designs for industry, Dr. LaViolette also worked on what was then called alternative and now called bio-fuels for both the spark ignition engine and the gas turbine. Dr. LaViolette also developed a vast understanding of many different instruments ranging from optical to chemical analysis.

Flow of air around an aircraft
Flow around a rotating aircraft shaped body in a transonic tunnel using Schlieren photography. Tomography can then be used to recreate the 3-D flow field.
