Research Interests
Dr. A. Chehri's research encompasses a wide range of cutting-edge technologies. His areas of expertise include current trends and emerging technologies in public safety and security, IoT for real-time response and control of autonomous intelligent systems, and intelligent biometric monitoring systems using IoT and AI. He also focuses on backhaul, 5G, and beyond 5G (B5G) cellular networks, big data and AI/ML analytics, ML/federated learning in wireless systems, RF sensors, signal processing, and compressive sensing for communication and localization, unmanned aerial vehicle communications.
Biography
Dr. A. Chehri is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) in Kingston, Ontario. He earned his Ph.D. from Université Laval (Quebec, Canada) and his Master’s degree from University Nice-Sophia Antipolis-Eurecom (France). Before joining RMC, he served as an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi (UQAC) from 2018 to 2022. He is also affiliated as a professor with the University of Quebec in Outaouais and UQAC, and as a professor at the University of Ottawa. Additionally, he is an associated member of the Group for Research in Decision Analysis, an inter-university research center from HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal, and McGill University.
Dr. Chehri has co-authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications in esteemed journals and conference proceedings published by IEEE, ACM, Elsevier, and Springer. His research has made significant contributions to the fields of IoT, public safety, security, 5G, and AI. He has been recognized as one of the top 2% of researchers by Elsevier for his high citation impact, based on a dataset of over 8 million authors worldwide.
He has served as a guest/associate editor in several prestigious journals and IEEE magazines, including IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Consumer Electronics, IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems, IEEE Journal of Biomedical and Health Informatics, and IEEE Internet of Things Magazine. Dr. Chehri has participated in approximately fifty conference and workshop program committees and tutorial chairs. He has also been an invited/keynote speaker at numerous academic and industry events worldwide, including IEEE GLOBECOM 2023, IEEE VTC-Spring 2024, IEEE Future Networks World Forum, IEEE WF-PST 2024, and IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things. He is a founding member of the Workshop on Current Trends and Emerging Technologies in Public Safety and Security and serves as the Chair of the Technical Committee for the Transportation Committee within the IEEE Public Safety Technology Taskforce initiative. He is an AdHoc Committee member on Autonomous Vehicles and a Committee on Drones member (IEEE VTS).
Dr. Chehri is a P. Eng, Senior Member of IEEE and a member of the IEEE Communication Society, IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS), IEEE Photonics Society, and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
