We have contributed to a student savings plan for our N/OCdt. What is the procedure to obtain a certificate stating that they are studying in a subsidized college or university at a Canadian military college?

To obtain the required documentation, the student must initiate the request. The Savings Plan typically requires either a specific form or a Proof of Enrollment letter. Students can request a Proof of Enrollment letter through the following link: Transcript and Document Requests. Alternatively, requests can also be dropped off at MK453. Please note that these requests must be made by the student, not a parent.

Can I visit my N/OCdt at the Royal Military College?
There are specific occasion when the College hosts family-oriented events and cadet schedules are adjusted to allow participation.  Generally, every second weekend, cadets are not engaged in mandatory structured work and may be available for visits.  It is advisable to coordinate in advance with your N/OCdt to ensure a suitable time for your visit.

Does my N/OCdt have to live on campus during their studies?

The Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP) is a residential program. Officer cadets are required to live on campus for the duration of their studies and use the dining services, regardless of their marital status.

Are there opportunities for my N/OCdt to partake in extracurricular activities or clubs?

RMC Athletics offers a diverse range of opportunities for extracurricular activities and clubs. At the provincial level, we field seven teams in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA), and at the national level, we hold full memberships in U SPORTS. Approximately 200 athletes participate across our seven Varsity Teams, which include Men’s and Women’s Fencing, Men’s Hockey, Men’s Rugby, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, and Men’s and Women’s Volleyball. Participation in these teams requires annual try-outs, and you must be a full-time RMC student to be eligible. Find more info here Varsity Sports.

In addition to Varsity Teams, Varsity Clubs provide enhanced training and competitive opportunities for RMC students. Similar to the Varsity Teams, these clubs hold annual try-outs, and full-time RMC student status is required for participation. Unlike Varsity Teams, Varsity Clubs do not compete in the OUA or U SPORTS; instead, they participate in tournaments and championships organized by their respective provincial or national governing bodies. Approximately 160 athletes are involved in our seven Varsity Clubs: Judo, Rowing, Running, Sailing, Swimming, Women's Rugby, and Taekwondo.

Recreation Clubs are created and organized by Officer Cadets with the primary goal of providing leadership opportunities for students. These clubs also foster social skills and introduce various

leisure and athletic activities to the RMC community that may not be available through varsity or intramural programs. While at least 51% of a club's membership must consist of Officer Cadets, RMC professors, PSP, and CANEX staff are encouraged to join any clubs of interest and support Officer Cadet initiatives. Community members are also welcome to participate, although their involvement cannot exceed 20% of a club's total membership.

Active clubs for the 2024-25 academic year include Air and Space, Bilingualism, Chess, Climbing, Debate and International Affairs Society, Expedition, Photography, Spikeball, Sport Parachuting, Multi-Sport, War Games, and Windsurfing. Find more info here: Recreation Clubs.

Can I tour the RMC site?

Yes.  Tours can be arranged through Liaison Services.

For instance, if a particular role necessitates a background in science or engineering, the officer cadet is required to remain in an appropriate program or submit a request for a change of role to facilitate a program switch.

Do I have the option to pursue a minor or a double major?

Yes, if your program of study and schedule permit, officer cadets have the opportunity to pursue multiple minors or a double major.

Can I study in French?

Yes, both Canadian military colleges offer study programs in both official languages: English and French.

It is too late for me to apply for the fall session? Can I apply for the winter session?

For current members of the CAF, the deadlines for direct applications to RMC Online are as follows:

Fall Semester (September - November): Application deadline is July 31. Course registration is open from July 1 to August 15, with late registration available from August 16 to August 30 (additional fees apply).

Winter Semester (January - April): Application deadline is November 1. Course registration is open from November 1 to November 30, with late registration available from December 1 to December 15 (additional fees apply).

Spring Semester (May - August): Application deadline is March 31. Course registration is open from April 1 to April 30 (no late registration available).

For ROTP applicants, the application deadline is January 31 for entry in September of the same year. Applications submitted after this date may still be considered, depending on availability and screening requirements. It is strongly recommended that you begin your application as early as possible.

Where can I obtain my course textbooks?

Upon enrolling in a course, you can access the list of required course materials through My Services. Navigate to the Academic tab and select "Textbook Search." Textbooks can be picked up at the RMC Bookstore, located on the lower level of the Old Gym.

I have issues with my course schedule. Whom should I talk to?

If you are facing challenges with your course schedule, please reach out to the academic advisor assigned to your program. They can provide guidance and support in resolving any scheduling conflicts or concerns. To obtain a list of your program advisors, please visit the program department, the Success Centre, or the Registrar’s Office.

Is the library open on weekends?

The library services and book collections are closed on weekends. However, study areas, computers, photocopiers, and printers located on the main floor of Massey Library in the Learning Commons are accessible to students, faculty, and staff of RMC 24/7.

I require additional academic accommodations, such as extended time for assessments and assistance with writing. Whom should I contact for support?
